Walk for Hope Basics

  • What is Walk for Hope?
    Walk for Hope is a national series of live and virtual fundraising walks that benefit women’s cancers research. By coming together and using our resources to fundraise for this great cause, we can make the dream of one day living in a cancer-free world more of a reality. 

    Our Walk for Hope in Atlanta is a 5K to support women’s cancers. 

  • What is City of Hope?
    City of Hope is one of only 49 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers nationwide and a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. An independent biomedical research, treatment and educational institution, City of Hope is a leader in the fight to conquer cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases.

Registration and Teams

  • How do I register?
    New for this year! Registrants have an option between participating at a $25 registration fee or becoming a fundraiser at no fee; however, we encourage all of our walkers to raise at least $200 to receive the official 2018 Walk for Hope T-shirt and become a Hero for Hope. Fundraise $1,000 or more to become a Champion for Hope and receive day of event parking. Walk participants can earn additional fundraising incentives.   • I am having trouble with my online registration. How can I get help?
    If you have any problems registering, please contact the Walk for Hope team at 800-266-7920 or walk4hope@coh.org. for assistance. 

  • How do I join a team?
    Click here to search for an existing team or form a new team.

  • What do I do after I register?
    Once you have registered, please log in to your Participant Center, customize your personal fundraising page and begin your fundraising. Start now! 

  • Do children need to register in order to attend?
    Yes. As registered participants, they can fundraise and are eligible to receive incentives.

  • Can my team have more than one team captain?
    No. Our online fundraising system does not allow for more than one team captain. 
  • Can I change the team captain?
    Yes. Please contact walk4hope@coh.org or call the Walk for Hope team at 800-266-7920 for assistance. 

Fundraising and Donations

  • Is there a minimum fundraising requirement?
    Yes. There is a low mandatory minimum fundraising level of $200. All walkers who raise at least $200 receive the official 2018 Walk for Hope T-shirt and become a Hero for Hope. We are more than happy to answer any fundraising questions to help you reach your goal! Please contact walk4hope@coh.org or call 800-266-7920, and we would be more than happy to help you help us!

  • Are donations tax-deductible?
    All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult your tax professional to determine eligible deductions. 

  • How can I make an online donation?
    To make an online donation, please click here and select donate now. You'll be prompted to enter the name of the walker or team. You will then be directed to his or her fundraising page to make a donation. 

  • Do you accept donations by check?
    Yes. To ensure that donations are applied to the correct walker, offline donations should be sent with a donation form. All offline donations should be made payable to City of Hope and mailed to the address on the form. Checks can also be turned in on the day of the event.

  • How long does it take for donations to be posted to my Personal Page?
    Credit card donations made via the website are posted immediately. Check and/or credit card donations sent in through the mail will take up to two weeks to post to your Personal Page. Any donation made on the day of the Walk can take up to one month to post. 

  • Can I submit donations in cash?
    Please do not send cash in the mail. You may contact the Walk for Hope team at 800-266-7920 or walk4hope@coh.org for drop off instructions. Walkers may also turn in their cash donations on event day at Registration.

  • What is a matching gift?
    Many companies have employee matching gift programs. These companies will match the donations made by their employees to a nonprofit organization. Please click here to see a list of companies that have matching gift programs. All paperwork for employee matching gifts is completed through your employer. Please inquire at your workplace. Matching gifts can only be counted toward fundraising incentives if they are received within 30 days following the event. 

Your Personal and Team Fundraising Profile

  • What is the Participant Center?
    Your Participant Center is an online tool that will assist you in managing all of your online fundraising activity. Log in at 2018 Walk for Hope Atlanta to access it at any time. 

    Team captains can also access their Team Pages from the Participant Center. If you have any questions about how to access or best use the tools in the Participant Center, please contact the Walk for Hope team at walk4hope@coh.org or 800-266-7920 for assistance. 

  • What is a Personal Page?
    Your Personal Page is a webpage dedicated to your fundraising efforts. Your friends, family and co-workers can visit this webpage to donate to you online or to print out a donation form to mail in a check. This webpage is automatically created for you once you are registered. There is default content on the page about Walk for Hope. We encourage you to customize your Personal Page to tell visitors why you are joining Walk for Hope and raising money to fight women’s cancers. 

    Please note: Your supporters will not be able to search for you if you select "Keep Me Anonymous and Make My Personal Page Private" when you registered. If you would like to change your privacy level, please contact the Walk for Hope team at walk4hope@coh.org or call 800-266-7920 for assistance. 

  • How do I send an email asking for donations from my Participant Center?
    Log in to your Participant Center, and click on "Invite friends to join you." Then click on "Invite friends using email" link your gmail account and select who you would like to email from your contacts. 

  • Can I upload a photo/video to my Personal Page or Team Page?
    In order to upload a photo to your Personal Page you must first have the picture saved on your computer as a .jpg file. Log in to your Participant Center, and click on "Add photos or videos." Next, select your source. Please select the photo/video you wish to upload from your files, add your details and click "Save." If you experience any trouble with uploading your photo, please contact the Walk for Hope team at 800-266-7920 or walk4hope@coh.org

  • How do I change my fundraising goal?
    Log in to your Participant Center, and click on "Set up your page". Scroll down to "What is your personal fundraising goal?" to change your goal to the amount you wish to raise to fight women’s cancers. 

  • Can I change my team name?
    Log in to their Participant Center and click on "Member of Team ....." Scroll Down to "How should your team name appear for this event?", change the name and save.

  • How can I see who is on my team?
    Participants can log in to the Participant Center, click on "Member of Team...." and under tab "Email your team" you will have a list of members.

  • What do I do if I forget my user name and/or password?
    When you registered you were provided a user name and password. If you have tried to log in and cannot remember your user name or password, click on "Forgot Password." 

  • How will I know who donated to me? Can I send thank you notes?
    Log in to your Participant Center, and click on "Dashboards." You can access a list of your donors with their email addresses (if provided), the amount of the donations, the dates of the donations and a link to find out more about the donations. Click on a donor’s name, and you will be prompted to send a thank you email for his or her kind donation.
